August 25 reintegrationI did spend some time adjust myself to the most familiar place, particularly time difference -_-" but surprisingly nothing else. Having no chance to summarize my feeling in Germany, nor to share my exciting back HOME, i have to get ready for my return to the US. the fact is the stay is too short. Some dispersing students need longer to realized where to go, and some have already planned the "regression". What clearly in my mind is ... the absence of all my-beloved (people and food =P) in the past 356 + 20 days, has taught me how much i miss and need them. I was criticized for my over-pro-BJ-ness. i know im not objective enough but, BJ is simply the home. Right before the departure from Europe, i used to get nervous, since i was afraid that the city wont be appealing to me any more. the truth is ... still it is, ALTHOUGH the land becomes not affordable, the sky is still gloomy in the traffic limit trial, and people's flippancy is rising. Now i have to find a better way to integrate, a far more challenging re-integration process for all the "turtles". "FDA is initiating an import alert against several species of imported Chinese farmed seafood because of numerous cases of contamination with drugs and unsafe food additives," said Dr. David Acheson, the agency's assistant commissioner for food protection, in a conference call with reporters. The species cited are catfish, eel, shrimp, basa and dace, he said. Basa is similar to catfish; dace is similar to carp. The medications cited include the antimicrobials nitrofuran, malachite green, gentian violet and fluoroquinolones. Nitrofuran, malachite green, and gentian violet have been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. Use of fluoroquinolones in food-producing animals can result in antibiotic resistance. None of them is approved for use in farmed seafood in the United States and some of them have been shown to cause cancer when fed to laboratory animals for "prolonged periods of time," Acheson said. Probably yes, from a Chinese point of view. Plus, this is not for tourism (officially). I'm not in favor of being away from home, neither do i like to maintain relationships remotely, but I can easily adopt myself to a new environment. This time, its a lll...ittle bit different. They don’t speak English at all, and poor me cant understand Serbia or Montenegrin (they are basically the same, though they declare themselves differently). More crucially, you can hardly find Chinese and Chinese food here -__-"
People here are kind, but very meat oriented. freezing to imagine how much weight i'm going to gain. in terms of the life style ... supremely relax. The office hour lasts from 8:30am to 4pm, but nobody count how many coffee breaks people take during a day. also, it is very hard to find people in Monday or Friday, because they need time to adjust to weekends. Tourism is obviously the major industry, hotel and restaurants are the profit contributors. Maybe there are some shipping yards, i dont know ... old enough.
However, you can never doubt the beauty of this country. I dont feel the exact "wildness" as the commercial says, but definitely a perfect integration of ocean and mountainous view, and a tremendous place to chase the tracks of Acient Rome Empire and Slavic culture.
